GP Telephone consultations are changing!!!!
From 29th January we will be stopping the 12 noon GP telephone consultations.
Instead you will be able to ring and request a call back from a GP.
If you wish to speak to a doctor you can leave your name and telephone number with the receptionist and the doctor will telephone you back.
How do I request a call back from the GP?
You can telephone the surgery each morning from 8.30am to request a call back from the GP. A total of 6 telephone appointments are available each morning for each GP.
If you are telephoning the surgery about a medical emergency, please advise the Receptionist immediately as a call back may not be suitable.
Can I request a call from a specific GP?
Unfortunately, patients cannot request a particular GP. The requests will be filled in the same manner as the current morning surgery.
Why is the Receptionist asking questions about my request for GP call back?
A request for a telephone call may not always be appropriate. The Reception Team have been trained to ask certain questions to ensure that all patients receive the most appropriate care, within the most appropriate timescale.
If you feel that an issue is private and you do not wish to say what this is, then this will be respected by the Reception Team.
When will the doctor call me?
The doctor will usually call you back before 12 noon. However, on occasion the doctor may be held up in surgery and may not be able to call you until later. If you are in any doubt, please call back and ask the Receptionist for further details.
What happens if I miss the return call from the GP?
All calls made from the practice come from a blocked number.
The GP will attempt to make contact with you before 12 noon; however workload pending, you may receive a call earlier or later than expected.
If the GP is unable to make contact, if possible, they will leave a voicemail advising that they will try again to make contact.
Why does the Receptionist ask questions??
